What is Obama's actual plan to help with Social Security?

I want specifics. Don't just say %26quot;He will change the laws concerning Social Security%26quot;, because he doesn't make the laws. I want to know what specific changes to the immigration law he is going to ask Congress to make. And, how will those laws be enforced. Congress already ignores a number of laws concerning SS, so how will he enforce those laws?

Currently one is not taxed for SSI for income made above 90k. Obama wants to raise that cap. This would fix the current problems with SSI and then some. (The criticism is that it is a significant tax raise...and a burden to the self employed and small businesses). (SSI is taxed from both the employer side and the employee side, in that it is matched....so it is not just a tax on the individual but also on the employer. The self employed are therefore taxed at a double rate.).



As far as how %26quot;comprehensive immigration reform%26quot; AKA amensty will impact SSI, and specific solutions for that beyond the raise in the cap I do not believe this has been hammered out as yet. I would have to say however that a raise in the cap would go a long way to a solution....while the opposition (McCain) would also implement the same immigration reforms but yet have no solutions for SSI whatsoever.



One also has to remember that congress will be overwhelmingly Democrat after the coming election. There is a good likelihood that Obama will get a raise in the cap should he be elected. There is also a good likelihood that there will be %26quot;comprehensive immigration reform%26quot; or amnesty in the United States (this no matter who is elected President). There is not however any likelihood at all that SSI will be privatized as per McCain's plan (which he knows very well....and is therefore no solution at all....for it will never happen).



So in the end....like the solution or not....Obama does have a solution, and one that has a probability of being made law. McCain has no solution however that has any chance whatsoever of becoming law in the next four years. Amnesty will also have a serious detrimental effect on SSI. Without such solutions as Obama is proposing....it will likely be the end of SSI.

I'm not sure how much more thoroughly I could have answered this question. Maybe someone would have preferred I just made something up, like %26quot;Obama has not plan, it's just change, whatever that means...%26quot; He does have a plan, and here it is. Read it if you actually want to know, or stop talking about how he has no plan.
