If not, he will be the first. Now that is real change and all while we are in a war and there is an economic crisis. What other organization hires completely unqualified people to be president except government? That means a powerful, well funded advertising and propaganda campaign could get someone elected. Maybe it voting should be replaced with a lottery? Just a random drawing of a social security security number. We might all be lucky? I am sure it would be better to have a lottery to choose members of the U.S. Congress. Much better.

Why does he need to know how to fire a weapon? What he needs, more than anything, is intelligence, compassion, strength, and most of all, sincerity. I think he has all of these. Our current president, by the way, went AWOL for a while when he was in the military, so his service record is sorely lacking. And even though GW has some military experience, he still lied to us, led the country into a war that has resulted in the needless deaths of many American men. You need your head examined, by the way.

Being in the military does not qualify you to be President. Who cares if he can't fire a weapon? As president, when is he going to need to?



McCain was a low man on the military totem pole. He isn't a military expert. Plus, military experience isn't a requirement to become president. Why do people make such a big deal about it?
I really don't understand why people think that military experience and experience being president are the same thing ... they are two entirely different jobs! Obama won't need to march or fire a weapon if he becomes president.



The fact is that NO ONE has experience being president until they actually become president... Everyone who gets this job has to learn the job while they are doing it! So saying that someone has the experience for this job makes no sense unless it's someone who has already been president.
He better learn how to fire a weapon. That might save his nads from Jesse.

I'm not sure that really matters. I can't recall the last time our president was involved in any kind of boots on the ground battlefield maneuvers
1) It's not a first. Lincoln was a lawyer and never served in the army before becoming a president and oversaw one of the greatest armed conflicts America's ever seen. Jefferson never served in the military, nor did several other presidents.



2) Obama was a professor of Constitutional law at the University of Chicago. That would make him more qualified than most of the presidents in recent history. And after the hammering it's taken after the current president, we could really use someone to help restore us to the Constitution's guidance.



Do you really think making arguments based on assumptions and half-truths (which assumes half-lies) improves the democratic system? Please research, make informed, rational arguments based on facts, and discuss things like a citizen. Otherwise, go home and shut your mouth.
I'm not really sure how being able to fire a weapon and knowing how to march are prerequisites for handling an economic crisis. Military service does not make a person fit to be president. I saw a different Vietnam Vet standing outside of Walmart today with a cardboard sign asking for money. I'll be he knows how to fire a weapon and march. Should we give him a job in the White House?
I'm more concerned about John McCain's inability to use a computer. They've been around for awhile now, but he's never had any desire to learn how. What does that tell you about him? No wonder he was at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. We need brains right now more than we need some marching guy with a gun who probably couldn't even shoot one anymore--look at how old Cheney went hunting.
