Small Claims Case Judgement Recovery - Defendant Moved - Any hope?

Hello,

I won a default judgement against the defendant in the state of Colorado about a month ago. I just realized she moved and changed her number. She could have even possibly moved out of state.

My judgement is valid for 6 years with 8% annual interest, so there is no IMMEDIATE need to collect other than the fact that I do need the money.

My question is whether or not there are any legal ways / services / companies that can find out where the defendant resides. All I know is there social security number and birthdate.

Also, are there collection agencies that can go after her for me for a fee of the collection?

Also, in Colorado I am eligible for a motion of interrogaties to obtain her financial information... if she did move out of state can I still serve this to her in her new state and how?

Also, I am not aware the court ever received her social security number, thus will this appear on her credit record?

Thanks for your help!

We can locate where your debtor now resides.

Unfortunately, in regards to what you can recover on your judgment, the state laws that are in effect relate to the state of residence for the debtor - not the state where the judgment is rendered.

Once you find out your debtor's residency, you will need to %26quot;domesticate%26quot; the judgment into that state. It's as simple as filing some paperwork in the county court where the debtor resides, so that the state and county can recognize the judgment. You cannot effect a recovery without having the judgment domesticated.

Also, if your debtor has moved, the CO interogetory will not happen. Again, whatever state the debtor has moved to, one must operate according to the laws of that state.

{and guess what - debtor's never tell the truth on those interogatories anyway...it is somewhat a pointless process...if you had to take them to judgment, you can bet they aren't just going to fork over information on their asset holdings)

Our company collects on civil judgments. Our standards are pretty high on the cases we take on, but give us a call. We can at least perform a debtor locate for a nominal fee.

first off..how did you manage to get her social security number? case or no case you have no right to it, or to use it. it is illegal. second, you are on your own when it comes to collections. depends on the sum though.
