Do you truly believe that if a person legally changes their name, S.S.# and moves, that they can not be found?

This seems unlikely to me in this day and with technology. If you do this legally then can't a P.I. or some other investigator still find someone who has changed their name and social security number?

How do you lose someone who won't leave you alone and continues to stalk and dismantle's your life?

That depends on the situation. You may not even have to change your name; if you move far away and get a PO Box, though you may be able to be tracked to your new city, they still won't be able to find exactly where you are. Better yet, get a PO Box in a city that's different from your residence (i.e., live in Seattle and get a PO Box in Tacoma). Just be really careful who you keep in touch with, if anybody, so the stalker won't find out your new whereabouts through them.

You can change your social security number if you're a victim of identity theft.

Here is a website that may help you:

Good luck!

you report them to the proper authorities thats what
They will always leave some traces behind.
ya if u burn your original SS card and whoever you are running from isn't wealthy enough to hire a legit search team
You cannot legally change your SS#, you can shange your name and your gender and your birth certificaate and your name on your SS# completely redoing who you are, but you keep your SS#.
If you change the name and your kids name(in case) you have any..then surely the person won't find you.... Otherwise get a restrict order.
You are correct. The days of being able to do that are GONE.

But I don't think it's possible to change your SS#. You can change the name and gender field with SS, but not the number itself.

You file charges against that person or obtain a restraining order.

edit: I think the only time you can change your SS# is in a severe case of identity theft.
No. The only chance you have of not being found is if you can convince the world you have died, and then create a new identity for yourself in some place where nobody will ask questions... like the Alaskan wilderness.
A person can legally change their name on their driver鈥檚 license and birth certificate and social security card but. The only way to have your SSN changed is listed below.

The Social Security Administration only in certain very extreme cases will issue a new number.

A new Social Security number may be issued if you can prove that someone has stolen your number and is using it illegally. You must provide evidence that the number is actually being misused, and that the misuse is causing you significant harm on an ongoing basis. If your card has been lost or your number has fallen into the wrong hands, that's not enough. Further, the Social Security Administration will not give you a new Social Security number to aid in avoiding legal responsibility, or in hiding bad credit or a criminal record.

To be able to completely hide from someone with the technology what it is today is virtually impossible.
Yeah unfortunately, (depending which side of the fence your sitting on, of course) you always leave a paper trail of some kind. Short of leaving the country, I don't see it happening. What a person should do is create their own paper trail, by making police reports every time the stalker attempts to make contact with you, and press charges. Its sad, but this is the flip side of the internet age; you can find out virtually anything or anyone if you have the time, money, and patience. There's always somebody willing to sell information, even if it means selling someone out.
PI's have their ways, even if you do things legally. if someone is bothering you to the extent that you need to change your name, SS#, you should get a restraining order against this person. you shouldn't have to rearrange your whole life for one person who won't leave you alone.
