HUGE name problem -- please help!!?

My fiance has a bit of a problem. Well it's both of our problem now. It's really confusing so read closely please. When he was a baby he was adopted and his adoptive mother changed his name. He went to school and graduated high school with the name his adoptive mother gave him. Yet he cannot work because his name doesn't match his social security number because the number is for his old name. Someone tell us what to do. We have been going back and forth with the court house and they keep rejecting everything because we don't have enough documentation, but if he doesn't have it what are we supposed to do about that? It really sucks. I don't understand how you can go to and graduate school with a name that doesn't even has a social security number. He's even went to jail with his adoptive name, without a social security number? His probation identification paper has his picture and his adoptive name and next to where his SS number is supposed to go it has %26quot;unverified%26quot;. We were just going to go and get an ID for him with his birth name just until we can get this name change legal once and for all, but he needs documentation that he does not have because everything has his adoptive name on it. Confusing huh? Have you or anyone you know ever had to go through this and what did they do?? Please help it's really frustrating. We would like to get a move on with our lives. Thanks a bunch!!! You will save our lives literally if you have a correct answer.
HUGE name problem -- please help!!?
All he has to do is get in touch with the clerk of court where the name change was filed, get a copy of the order for the change, and take that to the social security office to have it changed in their records. I just did that for my kids, took 15 minutes.
HUGE name problem -- please help!!?
He just got out of high school, and he's been in jail already?

Seriously, you should dump him.

If you stick with him, things will just get worse and worse and worse.

I have a very serious problem! I lost it all! Please help!?

My wallet was stolen along with my I.D. card, Debit card and Social Security Card. I already put a stop to my old debit card and has since gotten a new one before realizing that my bank account number was also in my wallet so I have to change that too huh?

I made a HUGE mistake by carrying everything with me and it seems that this mistake is irreparable. What can I do to prevent fraud if I don't know if I'll be a victim? Do I have to pay? I'm so lost as to what to do. They have all of my information so everything is so easy. I never realized how important your Social Security number is and how vulnerable someone can be when it's in another's possession. I messed up big time and I just want to know how to fix my mistake. Thanks so much!
I have a very serious problem! I lost it all! Please help!?
Call Social Security and tell them what happened they will cancel that number so it can't be used for anything. Debit cards are easily cancelled, so are ID cards. don't panic!

my wallet got lost and nothing happened.
I have a very serious problem! I lost it all! Please help!?
Sorry for your loss! You can try to get a new everything! Call the social security place and maybe you can get them to help you! Have you tried that? My mom lost her credit card at Wal Mart but allshe had to do was shut off the card to put it in the best sense and also my cousin had his identity stolen too. Just fill yourself wiht the love of your family and everything will be fine! Money is easy. Money isnt everything. You can have a happy life with out all that. Just dont get all depressed and lose all of your frineds. Something similar happened to me. Hope everything works out for the best!
No big deal. Once you change all of the numbers, you just watch what is going on, report any off colored expenses. Chances are someone just pcketed the money and threw the rest out with the trash.

Exactly $89 in it when it was lost.
Carrying your SS card around was a big mistake. Contrary to the above statement, there is no way to %26quot;cancel%26quot; a Social Security card or number. You can get a replacement card.

I would consider placing security freezes on your credit record at all 3 credit bureaus.
Have you contacted one of the credit reporting agencies and asked that a fraud alert be put on your account? That will go a long way in preventing more problems. The one company will share the information with the other two.

I don't think Social Security will cancel your number and issue another so don't be surprised if that tip doesn't work out.
FBI has a new case in their hand. Identity theft. call the credit card company and tell them your card has been stolen. next call your bank and tell them the same. with the pin number the thief can take all your money from the bank. next call social services and tell them your identity is at risk. hope this helps and may they catch the thief.

Was my vehicle wrongfully repossessed?

I purchased a vehicle in AZ in April 2008.

I paid $8,000 down and just over $13,600 all together.

In December 2009, I found out it was financed under the wrong social security number and have been trying since to get it changed in the finance company's system, with no resolve. The finance company would not do anything about it.

Two years and one month after the purchase date, my vehicle was repossessed.

The finance company- which is the finance company for the dealership, same corporation, in-house financing company- tried saying I committed Identity Theft.

They claim not to have my social security card on file, which is what I gave them along with my DL to prove my identity at the point of sale.

The finance company had run an inquiry to my credit score -under my correct social security number- on the date of purchase, however financed the vehicle under the incorrect social security number.

When I told them they could verify that on my credit report to prove it was a mistake made by the dealership, they told me the inquiries disappear after two years (which I feel is why they waited exactly two years and one month to seize the vehicle) and right now I look like I committed identity theft.

The person whose SSN the vehicle was financed under has the same first name and middle initial as me.

I was told this happens frequently from other resources as you can pull multiple social security numbers by first or last name when running an inquiry.

That person filed for identity theft once finding the vehicle financed under her SSN (DUH!).

I was not contacted nor given notice that my vehicle was repossessed, nor was I given other options on how to prevent the repossession.

The finance company and the dealership will not put in writing why my vehicle was repossessed, nor will they give me a penny I paid for the vehicle- nor the vehicle itself- back.

The finance company told me that none of the payments I have made nor the repossession are going to be reported under my SSN.

For whatever reason, they seem to want no record binding me to the transaction following the identity theft claim the other person had filed.

Note that there were some bodily damages yet to be repaired on the vehicle, and neither the finance company nor dealership said anything about getting me to take care of repairs.

They told me it is in my best interest to walk away from the vehicle- no liability to me, and the contract is and has been invalid since the point of sale due to the incorrect SSN (which, by the way, my SSN is nowhere on the contract).

They said I cannot get my money back because it has already been paid towards the vehicle.

They said that if I want the vehicle back to try to find financing elsewhere, because they will not finance the vehicle for me. They also said it is not in my best interest to find financing elsewhere because the car is not worth what I owe.

As I have a sales contract, would I not automatically be responsible to find financing to pay for the rest of the loan??? Again, my SSN is not in any part of the contract.

It is just fishy that they simply want no ties between myself and that vehicle.

I know it is going to be suggested that I contact a lawyer to gain the answers I seek.

I want some opinions on why the finance company and dealership are treating the situation as they are, as it is so upside down and backwards. Do you think they are trying to cover their tracks because of the liability they could face in an identity theft case or do you think they are just trying to rob me blind?

Thanks!!!
Was my vehicle wrongfully repossessed?
I can totally understand your frustration, you found an error, tried to correct it and it was used in a way that caused you to lose thousands of dollars, and boy does that finance company look like a greedy suspect here, unfortunately, in order to get this resolved, you are going to need an attorney who knows your rights, there are many good attorneys who will give a half hour free consultation, I highly suggest you find one and see if there is any legal recourse that you can pursue, if you win, you may come out ok, but on the other hand the attorneys fees could add up pretty fast too. It sucks when some businesses hide behind bs which is what this looks like, good luck, I hope you can find a plan somehow to help you straighten this mess out.
Was my vehicle wrongfully repossessed?
I don't think anyone here can answer your questions. With all respect, we are only getting your side of the story. It sounds complex and I am sure there is more to it than what you posted.

Anything anyone says is pure speculation. At this point, that is a waste of time. Focus on facts and what you can prove. Yes, you need an attorney, and the time you are spending here is time you are wasting finding one.

I'd be interested in what the outcome is. I hope you post the resolution to the issue here at YA for all to see. Good luck to ya.

Tennesee custody laws? im 16 almost 17 help please

My gradnparents have raised me since a baby i have seen my dad off and on during that time im 16 now ive been spending alot of more time with him. i hate living with my grandparents my papa is always drunk harassing me and my boyfriend my grandma always has to take care of her mother and has no time for me much. what steps do i need to take to move in with my dad he is much more educated and dosent drink anymore and is very well set finacially and treats me better and will have more time for me and help me with school. how to i go about switching custody form grand parents from him. i wouldnt have to change schools or anything. i dont know if they have joint custody or not and my grandma wont give me my social security number or birth certificate what can i do?
Tennesee custody laws? im 16 almost 17 help please
Your dad can obtain your ss card and birth certificate, if his name is on there.

As far as switching custody, your dad should take care of that. He would need to seek legal aid to steer him the right way, should he choose not to hire an attorney.

Although, you don't enjoy living with your grandparents, just don't forget that their the ones who raised you and cared for you. So if and when you move out, just don't forget about them.

I was illegally adopted 27 years ago. How do I go about getting my real Identity?

I was illegally adopted 27 years ago. I have a fake birth certificate that has worked my whole life, but recently was able to retrieve my real birth certificate. Same first name, but totally different last name. I want to be the real me! I want to have my real identity. So how do i go about changing to my real name, getting my real social security number, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated because i want my real identity! Thank you
I was illegally adopted 27 years ago. How do I go about getting my real Identity?
a legal adoption means the original birth certificate was amended. If she ILLEGALLY removed you from father with custody and had a new cert fabricated, that is a different story (and yes.. it does happen).

Up until about the last 1-15 yrs, a custody battle between parents meant that either parent could run with a child, and hide. That means.. it is possible she did not break the law.

I am cautioning you to be careful, and find the real story. It might not all be what it seems..

you can contact me through my profile.. I have 30 yrs genealogy experience, and might be able to help.
I was illegally adopted 27 years ago. How do I go about getting my real Identity?
Go see a family lawyer, first visit is free.
LOL--SRRY DAT STINKS LIKE A STINKBOMB. BUT U SHOULD TRY 2 FIND UR BIRTHMOTHER CAUSE SHE WILL KNOW EVERYTHIN ABOUT U.....PS......HOW DO U GET ILLEGALLY ADOPTED?
1. You ARE the real you, regardless of the paperwork.

2. EVERY adoption results in a different last name.

3. What makes you believe ANYTHING you were told by however CLAIMS you were illegally adopted?
You were adopted - of course your last name changed. It doesn't mean it's fake. How does your name and SSN define your identity more than the person you've been for the past 27 years? The you now IS the real you!

How can I prove that I'm being discriminated against?

Ok..so here's the deal. I applied for a job at a well known retail store. I interviewed, H.R. gave me the job on the provision that I pass the drug test and background check.

So..on my way to take the drug test, they call me and say they rescinded my job offer because my background check came back with a discrepancy, and they gave me a number to call to find out why.

So I call the number and they said that my social security number didn't match my name. I said that was probably due to me changing my name about 3 years ago. The social security number was coming up as my old name. So..they wanted me to fax a copy of my drivers license and social security card. I do. They can't read it, so they ask me to send another copy. I do. They said they cleared it up and now have to run a criminal background check. They said on the paperwork that it takes about 3 to 5 buisiness days.

Well....it's been nearly 2 weeks. I keep calling, no one can give me any info on how long
How can I prove that I'm being discriminated against?
Hello my lovely, i've spent 15 minutes trying to find something worthwhile and to be quite honest i don't understand any of the legal jargon (I think they use big words to confuse us little people so we never know where we stand in the eyes of the law!)

Apparently the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) does not protect transgender people. Although there are two different bills, only the first one includes %26quot;gender identity within its protection%26quot;, whereas the second one no longer does (Isn't America progressing - NOT!).

I think the first link below may be useful. I'm sorry i couldn't be more help. I hate any type of prejudice and it makes my blood boil when i see that even the government is failing to do anything about the bigotry!

I hope everything works out for you. x
How can I prove that I'm being discriminated against?
sadly i dont think there are laws against discrimination based on sexuality/gender identity when it comes to the workplace.

as bad as it sounds...the best you can do if this is the case where you live is move on.
I don't think you can prove discrimination, though that's probably whats going on based on your sex change now being known by HR. Id suggest you let it go and keep looking for new job opportunities. Seeing as how you've got your social security problem solved this should hopefully not be an issue anymore. good luck
If you live in California, yes there are laws regarding sexual discrimination.
    http://www.eeoc.gov/

try the site to find out more, or who to contact, but yes you can do something about it even if it doesn't help you it might help for the next time the employer has a problem with someone.
I suppose this depends upon where you live and what your state's anti-discrimination laws are like. In Maine ours are very liberal. You would get a job in Portland very quickly!
i live in california and yes there are laws about discrimination but good luck on trying to prove them, i was fired and not hired at certain compainies because of what coworkers said and not to mention the constent sexual harrasment i endurded at both places. i contacted the labor board and whatever bunch of phone numbers they gave me and hounded them for months it has now been almost 3 months since i last spoke to someone who was supposed to be returning my phone call, so if there discriminating against just plain old lesbians then i dont see how your gonna be able to prove it against a transman discrimination is everywhere and unfortunately our government is to ignorant to really give a damn about the american public gay, straight or trans

Apply for a replacement card at the social security office near you. You will probably need some other form of ID. You may be able to apply online.

Marriage Question: Keeping it A Secret?

My fiancee and I have been discussing the topic of getting married for a while now. She is 18 and I am 24. Want to get married at City Hall. But we don't want our parents or any other family member to find out. How can she and I keep this a secret? Like when her parents file their taxes and claim her (she still lives with her parents...we don't live together yet but we will eventually) and it gets rejected because we are married. But what if I don't claim her...? Can her parents still claim her on their taxes and not find out that we are married? She is going to keep her last name for now but in 2012 we are going to have an actual wedding for our parents and everyone else so her license, social security number and other legal documents won't change.

The main question is if she and I get married, is there any possible way that we can keep it a secret from our parents? Like finding out on their taxes or in anyway at all?
Marriage Question: Keeping it A Secret?
    First of all, the IRS only checks on about one in 30,000,000 or so. They do not cross check on things like this. If she is living at home and they are providing the majority of her upkeep they can claim her. If you two don't tell, no one will know. Fly to Vegas, stay 25 hours, and get married there. In the eyes of the Law you are both adults so you can do it. You can get married in another county or state. 'If you don't claim her?%26quot; If you aren't supporting her you shouldn't claim her. Please keep us posted on this. A lot of people wil be interested. 8%26gt;}
Marriage Question: Keeping it A Secret?
    You BOTH are freaking WEIRDOS!

And obviously not ready to tie your shoe, let alone marry!
If you're not mature enough to let your parents know, then you're not mature enough to be getting married.

And by the way, when you get married, you file a license with the county, and THEY notify the IRS, so when her parents tried to claim her on their return, they'd probably be getting a call from the IRS regarding their attempt at tax fraud.
Please just wait until you can do it legitimately.
Why the rush? You are young and the fact you are asking this and sneaking behind parents backs proves it. Marriage is for when two full grown adults want to share a life.
If you are not planning on living as a married couple, then you should not get married.

If you are too immature/scared to tell your parents, then you should not get married.
don't start the marriage off with a lie it won't work and you have to have your parents support in your life sorry one rule i have for my seven kids don't lie to me because when no one else is there or turns their back you will only have me so don't piss me off.
If you lie and let them claim her on their taxes, they can be audited by the IRS and heavily fined.

Either get married or don't, do not lie about it. If you have to lie, you are obviously in no place to be married maturity wise.
IF you were ready to get married you wouuldn't have to keep it a secret. I got kicked out of foster care at 18 for marrying my husband but it was worth it and I have never regretted it. I am now 21 and we are still going strong with 3 kids! If you are old enough to get married..you are old enough to tell people!
You'll be fine, I hid my marriage for two years, my parents claimed me and everything. They won't find out unless you tell. I got tired of hiding and just %26quot;came out%26quot; with it.

Just do me a favor, make sure you have good reasons for marrying, and for hiding. Just make sure you don't claim her too, and you have nothing to worry about as far as taxes go.
No not just yet my friend. Don't make the same mistake I did and I was 28 at that time. Do it the proper way. Be a man and ask for her hand. Just make sure your ready emotionally when your fiancee's family started eyeing you down. Mine did and I have to say it affected me severely.

I am flying out from the US to NZ in a couple of days because she just asked me to leave. Now I am not trying to blame everything to her family or anything like that but the emotional and psychological effect to me because of the constant battering for just being a DRAFTSMAN took a lot out of me.

Good luck to you and your fiancee but think about slowing it down for a little while. Set yourself up first.
You should not try to keep this a secret. Imagine how everyone will feel when they do find out. In my community, the names of people who apply for marriage licenses are printed in the newspaper. You are right to be concerned about tax consequences. Have you also considered issues with insurance? Most insurance companies will not cover a %26quot;child%26quot; once they marry. Can you provide health insurance for your fiance?

Just wait until 2012 and do it right.
That is just ridiculous. If you're going to get married then do it and tell everyone. I can see not telling anyone ahead of time if you just want to elope. But to elope and keep it secret and not live together for 3 years...well that's just stupid! I can understand an 18 yr old thinking that way but man you're 24! Act like it!

    I have called lawyers in the phone book, and they all say:%26quot; never did a case like that, call some one else%26quot;
What type of lawyer do I need?
This certainly is a unique issue....try starting with http://www.findlaw.com. This may at least help you determine whether this is a family law or cival case. You may also want to trace back the court in which this person was given either Power of Attorney or Custodial rights...if that case was heard in a family law court (which I'm suspecting) then this would be family law as well, because in essence, you are wanting these privaledges revoked! You didn't say how old you are, but I think age has a lot to do with it as well!
What type of lawyer do I need?
This is family law, although if you're talking about Social Security benefits, you could find a lawyer that specializes in Social Security matters.

Call your city and/or state bar association for free referral to correct type of attorney.
are you married to this person? did you sign this contract? do you have a copy of this saying they could do this? I have never heard of this. best thing to do is to file a freeze on your accounts with the credit bureaus. also, you have a right to dispute what is in your medical records. also call the police and file a report, sounds like identity theft.

I need help on changing baby's last name?
im dealing with the same thing except my daughter has her dads last name just his name didnt get on it cause he wasnt there to fill it out. so i called the state vital records[i live in wyoming] and they told me to order the birth certificate.which here is 13 dollars and they will send a correction paper and you will have to fill it out and explain why you want it back to your name and then they will send you the corrected copy for free. but my advice is monday morning before you do anything call your state vital records office. i just googled it. and put wyoming state vital records. and it pulled the number up.

Trying to find a missing realtive Please help? ?

Is it possible to locate someone if they may have changed their name but you have their social security number card? The reason why I am asking is I am having the hardest time locating a family member for a friend. On their birth certificate the mother's name is spelled different from her social security card I don't know if it was a type up or how she spelled it but instead of a %26quot;Y%26quot; in her name she has an %26quot;I%26quot; like alycia but alicia on the certi. we are unsure if she changed her name. We also did tons of online searches and we found under her social that she had passed away then another record said she was still living. We also found a current address under her social. I am confused any help please? We haven't seen or heard from her in 26yrs so I really want to help my friend in this situation. What can I do now to help this search. A private detective might be too expensive and we don't know if she wants to be found or keeping her distance. PLEASE HELP

Trying to find a missing realtive Please help? ?
Well, first thing is first and that is that you are great for helping a friend out- its very kind.

Well to me that the person wants to keep her where abouts secret because her identity and address , etc is so confusing.

My advice to you is tat you sould do even more reseach to compare the statistics. Say if there were 7 reports saying that she is living and 2reports saying she died than assume that she is living (no offence with this example)

And you have to tell me how you find this kinda thing out becuse I dunno a single clue on how to find out these things. I just gave you advice that uses logic.

    Hoped i helped!

Changing name legally in state of Massachusetts for an adult?

I am from the state of Massachusetts. I would like to change my first, middle and last name legally. I am not married. I am in my 30's. Is it possible? Does anyone know if it is possible, can I change it to anything I want? How would I go about doing that? I don't have money for a lawyer, so not sure if I can do it on my own through the internet. I have left a really bad relationship and though nothing was documented, I don't want anyone from that family to find me. I know they probably can using my social security number and that I know I can't change. But, I'd like to change my entire name. Thanks

    Nik
Changing name legally in state of Massachusetts for an adult?
Not a problem. A lawyer and a few bucks will solve it.

How do I disappear from my parents?

I'm 18 years old. After I graduate, I鈥檓 planning on running away from my parents legally. I already know which house I will be going to(which they don't know about), and I plan to change my legal first and last name and social security number as soon as I get there. I will be driven there by somebody that my parents never met. I know that I will have to get my ID, birth certificate, passport, and social security card. I don鈥檛 have a drivers license or car, so that should make things a bit easier. I will permenantly stop using my current email address and scribble out my social security number from their phonebook, because that鈥檚 the only place they keep it, and they don鈥檛 remember it. I plan to search a completely random location on google maps and leave it in their history to make them think that鈥檚 where I鈥檓 going, and I will throw away my bank card and phone SIM card. Is there anything else I should do to succesfully disappear from my parents without them being able to track me down?
How do I disappear from my parents?
If you're legally an adult, why is all this action necessary? As an adult you would never be viewed as a %26quot;runaway%26quot; by the law. Have your parents been physically abusive? Threatened you with bodily harm? If so, then maybe a restraining order is what you need--but it sounds like you think your parents have more power over you as an adult than they really have (certainly more than the law allows).

Talk to a teacher that you trust. He or she can help steer you towards someone who can help you think this through more clearly. Two heads are better than one.

    Good luck.
How do I disappear from my parents?
    Change your appearence?
why? they are your own parents. they give you a LIFE.

they give you everything include clothe, game, and etc...

if you run away from ur parents and u might will have hard time.
YES as a parent I think you should think long and hard about what you plan to do.and they can always get your social security number from the office They are your parents. What could they have possibly done to deserve this horrible act
Change the way you look and do things.
    A) You can't change your SSN that easily

    B) It's listed on all their tax returns

    C) Why not just move out and act like an adult instead of running away like a child?
Why would you wanna get away from your patents just ask them if they say no that mean they want you to be safe and not to do wrong stuff thanks.
    become less of a dork?
well letz see wen ur trying to disappear from parents u need to,

change ur look to something really new like idk for example emo or goth so they wont recoginze you.
I'd have guessed younger, based on your impractical plan and your inability to empathize with your parents once you have disappeared.

If they have abused you in some way, fine, cut off all contact. Move out. Support yourself. If they phone, hang up. If they visit, shut the door. If they email, delete without reading.

But it's cruel and very probably stupid to spend so much effort disappearing. As the people who brought you into the world, they have the right to know where you are and that you're all right. Establish contact with a relative if you cannot deal with speaking or writing to your parent.

You sound like you're more interested in the little adventure of disappearing than you are like acting like an adult who faces his problems and finds a way to deal with them. You're not the first 18 year old to think s/he hates his parents. Most find a way to manage a civil relationship.
If they got enough money they will be able find you despite all your efforts. For example, they can put a track on your high school records. Any time someone asks for a transcript they will be informed. So you may as well forget about going to college or joining the service or getting a government job. Another example, they can simply keep declaring you on your taxes. They did put your SSAN on those forms so do not believe they only have it written down in one place. All they have to do is look at last years taxes. If they keep declaring you on their taxes and you file income taxes the IRS is going to notice it. And bingo, your parents will know where you went.

To totally disappear you need to start over, not %26quot;change your name.%26quot; The easiest way to start over is to move to another country.

Join the French Foreign Legion as they give you the opportunity to start over with a whole new identity.

Tn custody laws help im 16 and stuck and dont know what to do!!!!
If your father is pretty well off, then have him pay for you a lawyer and let the lawyer do the work for you. He can get you back with your Dad. He can also get your SS# and birth certificate. Actually you can do that yourself, but a lawyer can do it all. Just have Dad hire him.
Tn custody laws help im 16 and stuck and dont know what to do!!!!
Speak to a guidance counselor at school and see if there's some legal aid available to you......besides the ss number is yours, the school should have it on record, and you can get a copy of you rbirth certificate as that is public record..it will cost a fee and you need to know the county where you were born...ask your guidance counselor for the help...good luck.
For the fact that he is your father he cud file for custody of you in family court your old enough to talk to the judge and tell him or her where u want to live. Talk to your dad about it. Also let him get a good lawyer to help him get your things back.

The best deal for People records?
I visited the site. It appears that quite a few of the search databases are %26quot;premium%26quot; searches and requires a payment for each use.

Not sure that this is the bargain it seems to be.

My employer still requires that I use my SSN to login to their website. How do I get this changed?

My employer still requires that I use my SSN to login to their website. How do I get this changed?
One of the duties of an information security professional is to set company policy. Part of setting company policy is to ensure that privacy is protected and is in accordance with best security practice and regulatory compliance.

Information Security or Compliance or Legal or Human Resources (in that order) would be the departments you would want to contact in order to have policy changed.

If you company is bound to comply with any regulatory acts such as HIPAA or SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) then you have a great shot at getting things changed rapidly.

    Good Luck
My employer still requires that I use my SSN to login to their website. How do I get this changed?
Depending on what system is being used (for example myworknumber.com) to view your paychecks, W-4 form ect. it usually doesnt give you and option to change from using your SSN to a personal pin number of some kind. Since your accessing valuable information, a SSN is needed. You should always ask your HR(Human Resources) for this information to see if you have a choice.
They won't. it is done for your security as well as theirs
Contact your IT department and ask for whoever does the web site. This could also be an external site...if so you're pretty much out of luck.

Can your parents take your money out of your bank or savings account once you turn 18?

Hello, im turning 18 soon and want to move out, so i was going to take all my money in my savings account and my bank account to start out new. The only thing im worried about is that my parents hate the idea. So im wondering, can they take my money %26quot;which is in my account, not theirs%26quot; out of my account (both savings and bank)? Also, should i be worried about them having my social security number? If so, how can i change it? (I dont want any of those pro-parental answers like %26quot;you shouldn't go against your parents%26quot; or %26quot;your parents are the closest things you have%26quot;. If thats the type of answer youd normally put for this type of question, then just assume it is theoretical or dont answer, thank you)
Can your parents take your money out of your bank or savings account once you turn 18?
Unless their names are attached to the account no they can not access the funds. As for them using your SS# they can not legally do anything more with it than Joe Smoe on the street could. Trying to change your SS# is probably a bigger hassle than you would care to undertake. As far as your %26quot;pro-parental%26quot; comment is concerned in time you will wish you had listened to them more, been there done that.
Can your parents take your money out of your bank or savings account once you turn 18?
If their names are on the account (they are because banks wont give accounts to minors without a parent on the account) they can take anything in it. You need to take all the money out and open new accounts by yourself when you turn 18.

You shouldn't have to worry about your parents with your SS#. It's a real headache to get a new SS# and it's usually only done if you have had severe identity theft.
It's your account in your name so no.You usually have to sign a document to take money out unless it's via an ATM (over OR under 18)so they can't do anything unless you're dead. They can put money into your account but have no right to withdraw or close the account just because they don't like what you're doing.

And social security numbers cannot be changed, used by your parents to stop you doing anything or blocked.
You parents can't take any money from your account unless they are also on the account as well. Check to make sure the account is solely in your name and if it is you don't have any more worries on that count. Second, unless your parents plan to either sell your information or use it to their own ends then you shouldn't have to worry about your social security number either. However, if your parents are the kind of parents who might do that then here are two options to consider.

    1. Go to police station let them know you are worried about someone (it seems less harsh than saying your parents) might steal your identity. I believe they will take you through the process of %26quot;booking%26quot; you or something to that effect so that you are formally in the system and there is a picture (current) and your fingerprints and the like right there so that if someone else is found using your information they will be the ones held responsible and not you.

    2. You can always sign up for one of those identity theft agencies I hear that they are really good and if you sign up now while there is pretty much nothing on your credit (at least I hope) they can help you keep it that way and as an added bonus you won't get as much if any at all junk mail.

I understand you wanting serious answers to your question. I too have questionable relatives (not my parents but an aunt and at least two uncles) and can understand your concern. Good luck and remember just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone is not after you!
The account DOES have their name on it. You CAN'T open an account entirely in your name as a minor. Depending on how the account was set up, they may or may not remain on the account after you turn 18. If they remain on the account, the funds are legally as much theirs as yours, and they can do whatever they want.

You should visit the bank NOW and determine how the account is structured. You can also make an appointment on your 18th birthday to open a new account in your name alone. Than you can transfer all the money from the existing account into the new account.

You CAN'T change your SS#. Even if you can PROVE ID theft, it is nearly impossible to convince the SSA to issue a new number. In your case, you will be lucky if the laugh at your request.
    (A) Yes, if they are on the account. No, if they are not.

    (B) In general, if you are not living with them and not taking money from them, they will only have as much control as you give them. At 18, the law will recognize you as fully independent if you separate yourself from them physically and financially. They have zero say in the matter. If they meddle in any way that would be illegal for a stranger, it will be illegal for your parents at that point.

The only real exceptions are (1) co-ownership and (2) mental illness.

    (1) If their name be on it, it be theirs -- regardless of the hows %26amp; whys. The law is rather black and white in the area of anything with registered ownership (like financial accounts or cars).

    (2) It is possible to declare someone mentally incompetent, esp. if they are a child. However, this a very difficult process unless there is a string of prior behavior (like treatment for severe mental illness and hospitalization) to back it up.
nO0 THEY Cannot take your money out.

If the money is only on your name then no0 they have no access to ur banking account

IF the account is on ur name and theirs then yes

    Employers Bracing for Immigration Rules

By SUZANNE GAMBOA and ANABELLE GARAY

    The Associated Press

    Friday, August 3, 2007; 12:42 AM

WASHINGTON -- Employers across the country may have to fire workers with questionable Social Security numbers to avoid getting snagged in a Bush administration crackdown on illegal immigrants.

The Department of Homeland Security is expected to make public soon new rules for employers notified when a worker's name or Social Security number is flagged by the Social Security Administration.

The rule as drafted requires employers to fire people who can't be verified as a legal worker and can't resolve within 60 days why the name or Social Security number on their W-2 doesn't match the government's database.

Employers who don't comply could face fines of $250 to $10,000 per illegal worker and incident.

%26quot;There's a lot of fear and anxiety about what this rule is going to mean, particularly in the agricultural sector,%26quot; said Craig Regelbrugge, spokesman for the American Nursery and Landscape Association and co-chairman of the Agriculture Coalition for Immigration Reform.

For years, the Social Security Administration has sent %26quot;no match%26quot; letters to workers and their employers notifying them of the information discrepancies, to make sure money withheld from a person's paycheck is credited to the correct worker. The letters are not shared with other government agencies because of privacy laws.

Although employers are prohibited from hiring illegal workers, their responsibilities with the letters have generally ended with notifying the workers of the discrepancies and leaving it to them to deal with it.

Attorneys have warned many employers to be careful not to fire a worker because they got a letter, because the no-match could be the result of a typo in a name or number, a computer error, a name change that wasn't reported after marriage or other reasons.

But those who don't comply with the new rule could be deemed as knowingly hiring an illegal worker.

The Department of Homeland Security says the new rule provides guidance to employers on how to deal with workers who receive no-match letters and what to do _ fire them _ if the issue is not resolved in 60 days and they can't verify their workers are legal. It gives employers who comply immunity from penalties if illegal workers are found at their business in an investigation or raid, said Russ Knocke, Homeland Security department spokesman.

    U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a division of the Homeland Security Department, %26quot;is going to be tough and aggressive in the enforcement of the law,%26quot; Knocke said. %26quot;You are going to see more work site cases. And no more excuses.%26quot;

The administration trotted out the stepped-up enforcement plan last summer but put it on hold while the Senate debated an immigration reform bill.

That bill would have granted a chance at legal status for the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the country and created a temporary worker program. It also would have required employers to verify the status of all their workers.

After the bill collapsed in Congress, employers started bracing for the tougher rule.

%26quot;Congress didn't act. They didn't do what they needed to do on comprehensive immigration reform. Now there's going to be some pain to pay, and Congress is not going to feel the pain right away, it's the communities (of employees), and that's a real shame,%26quot; said Laura Reiff, co-chairwoman of the Essential Workers Immigration Coalition, a national group of business and trade associations.

For Mark Chamblee, the stricter rule could mean losing some of his 28 workers at his nursery in Tyler, Texas.

Chamblee suspects a few of his workers could have trouble with their Social Security numbers and said he will fire them if the problems aren't resolved.

    %26quot;Of course, it would add to the workload for the other workers,%26quot; he said. %26quot;It would reduce our production and our output. Not all of our demand would be met on our products. Operating costs would go up.%26quot;

Ray Atkinson, a spokesman for Pilgrim's Pride Corp., confirmed that the country's largest chicken processing company recently fired employees at two Texas plants.

The company's policy %26quot;for some time now%26quot; has been to terminate employees who can't clear up discrepancies, Atkinson said.

%26quot;We're all very cautious and we're all very nervous,%26quot; Chamblee said.
It took conservative talk radio to force this administration to deny amnesty, illegals will be leaving?
Nah, nobody is going to be leaving. This administration is stubborn to the point of arrogance, and they will simply refuse to enforce any law that they don't like. Don't start believing that George Bush is a Republican. That's been a lie from the beginning. He's the ultimate RINO.
It took conservative talk radio to force this administration to deny amnesty, illegals will be leaving?
Great but I will believe it when I see it. Maybe they should liquidate their assets now and go home before the IRS decides to grab their property for income tax evasion.

Naming your kid/ cursed names/heres my story ?

i was named joan- i hate the name because my aunt joan beat her kids so bad- i would hear the screaming from their house- and they are now retarded- i kid you not/ my f-n parents never reported her either/ why would they- my dad used to beat the crap out of us- also i lost a 5 year old son/ a fat women t boned our car- she didn't stop at a stop sign and my name was all over the newspaper- i felt like my name was cursed- so on my birth certificate i got my name corrected to marilyn- family still calls me joan though- but on my new birth certificate is marilyn/ so i kept the same social security number and got my name changed on it/ i actually got 2 card one with joan one with marilyn- same social security number though- but i have 2 drivers license- i kept trying to explain but they didn't get it so i took my drivers test again and wound up with 2 licenses- my insurance is under the name joan- ss keeps going with joan because when i was married it was joan- and people act funny towards me because i lost a kid- like it is contagious- if i ask to hold their baby they get this look- so i snapped a few years ago- and was in the hospital/ i know exactly what i have done with my name and identity- am i using this to cope with issues on the death of my son and if i would manage to have another kid since i have secondary infertility how am i to explain all this to the hospital, because i would want marilyn on the birth certificate not joan and when i die i want marilyn on my tombstone- not joan/ joan got beat/ joan got married and had kids/ joans kid got killed/ joans husband cheated and had a affair/ and joan left and divorced/ i hate joan- and i hate the biblical meaning of the name- gods greatest gift/ i named my son jeramiah- i think biblical names are cursed! i named my daughter heather she is fine and it isn't biblical.
Naming your kid/ cursed names/heres my story ?
Joan is dead now....Marilyn is the person who is alive.

Make everybody refer to you as Marilyn and insist this be done! It's not just a name chance, it's a life change.

Naming your kid/ cursed names/heres my story ?
I don't think it has to do with names. Sometimes horrible things happen to good people. Sorry for all your troubles.
Wow! I am so sorry! Hope you have better luck!
    I'm so, so sorry.
Have you gone to the courts and paid to have your name legally changed to Marilyn? If not, do so and then get all legal/financial documents changed. Whenever someone calls you Joan, correct them and say, %26quot;it's Marilyn now%26quot;. Just say, %26quot;I hated the name Joan, so I changed it%26quot;.

As for cursed names: probably not. However, I completely understand how you feel. I've always hated my last name, b/c my father's family is a bunch of alcholics who abuse their wives %26amp; children. I always wished I had my mom's last name. I still have my father's last name, but I have cut that connection and redefined my name (my full name) to mean me. It took a long time. It took me moving 2000 miles away from my past and family, to finally establish my name, myself as me--not my family.

You've been through some tough times. Understand that you are you; you are not the bad people/events. You are the strength, wisdom, character that has survived those things.

Btw, I love the name Jeremiah.
Well your story is very sad and I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds to me like you have a bit of Obsessive compulsive disorder. I have it and these are the kinds of thoughts that used to go through my head all the time. It's mostly just in your head.. it really is.. but I totally understand your reasoning.

I named my kid after a famous horror movie actor.. does that mean he's going to become a serial killer or something? I don't know. I hope not.
Well, I think you had some very misfortunate events happen in your life. Honestly I know a lot of people with Biblical names. Matthew (my brother), Michael (my dad), John (FIL), Jacob, Mary, Joel, David, Nathan (my brother), Rachel (my sister) ect.

    They are all doing great!

My husband Joel is a very blessed and gifted person.

I guess you can think what you want, but I don't think had to do with you being named Joan. I know a few people named Joan or Joni and they are fine too.

I can see where you'd want to change your name to sort of start anew...saying I am not that person anymore ect. I can totally relate to that. But to say that all these horrible things happened to you because you had a Biblical name is ridiculous.

    The Bible says Christians are %26quot;blessed beyond the curse, for His promise will endure...%26quot;

    :)

Um, Marilyn? Having a Biblical first name is not a curse. My brothers' names are Matthew, Shane and Jesse. You can't blame your name as the reason why your life is going down the toilet. Sure, having the name Joan, probably isn't exactly a nice walk in the park, but you can't let it get you down. There are worse things going on in the world, then you having a exceedingly sucky name. Things like Death, War, Loneliness, etc. Just get a grip. Life goes on.
Im so sorry for the loss of your son. What a horrible pain to have to bear. I also am sorry for the name you feel so much resentment towards. It sounds like you have made up your mind and you are done with Joan. My advice would be to completely discard the name altogether. Legally and socially.

Have you dealt with your sons passing? I wonder if right now, you are manifesting all your pain into the name Joan. What happens when you let go of Joan and the name no longer consumes your thoughts? Do you think this is possible? Can you move forward and put the name and memories of Joan behind you? Again I am so sorry about your loss.
Whatever name you use at any given time ---

    You are still YOU.

Yes -- you have history -- bad but GOOD too!

The joy of motherhood, however short-lived, is a treasure many can never experience!! You were blessed with a gift in your son.

Seek counseling and stay in it for your daughter's %26amp; grandchildren's to come sake. You have risen above many obstacles. You are now able to find peace within yourself (with help).

    Marilyn -- you have proven Joan is %26quot;God's Greatest Gift.%26quot;

She/You are a woman who is strong and better than any other Joan!

You have inspired me to be a better person today.

And don't ever believe Jeramiah was cursed. He's an angel!

He's in the best of all possible places where you will meet again.

Make him proud of you. Show him how you will shine eternally.

Take care of your daughter and yourself.

Trust God's plan for all of you. Today you made a difference in mine and many other's lives.

    We care about you!!

    Social security numbers and children?

I sent my niece a check it had a SSN number on the back and the first digits were 57 ...... What area is 57 ssn and can a adult cash checks for their minor children .How do I find out who the SSN number belongs to . I am curious . Maybe her mom changed her ssn after she divorced my brother .
    Social security numbers and children?
575-576 SS # are issued for people who were born (and filed for a SS#) in Hawaii.

    As outlined here:

    http://www.usrecordsearch.com/ssn.htm

and a parent or legal guardian can cash a check in a minor's name as long as they present identification at a bank to do so

No, the parent wouldn't change a child's SS# just because of a divorce.
    Social security numbers and children?
I believe SSN issued out of California.

Why was there a Social Security number on the back of it? Was it a personal check?
Yes, adults can cash checks in their minor's name. You cannot change someone's SSN, unless they enter witness protection, and there is no public database you can search to find out whose SSN it is until that person dies. As for the first digits, the area is determined by the first 3 digits, not the first 2, so it's impossible to say. See the site below.
Are you sure it was a SS# ? Could be an account number. I always put my account number on the back of my checks when I sign them.

I am freaking out and panicing..need advise..How can I protect my property. I have a drug addicted nephew who?

has destroyed everyone's life stealing multiple items and money from my now dying mom, disabled brother, other brother, and apparently has broken into multiple houses to support his habit and it again homeless and jobless and was hanging around my mom's house..broke into her house before Christmas last year and was fopund hiding and living in the attic and stole multiple expensive Christmas presents.

He has stolen from me a credit card and changed $1000 before discover, has my social security number or did as he stole my driver's licence and in my lifetime 5 complete set of keys. He somehow gets in the houses and cars even if locks are changed. I have a shed at my mom's and he broke dozens of locks anfd it appears he has stolen stuff but I am afraid to look due to him living in it and using the bathoom everywhere in his drugged up state..broke windows and dead squirrels may be in there and I am afraid of the virus they may carry so don't even know what he took from there..(cont)
I am freaking out and panicing..need advise..How can I protect my property. I have a drug addicted nephew who?
Yes he is family but why has no one called the police or started to get them involved. He clearly has no intention of getting help for his addiction, so the next best thing is to help him by not enabling him. Get the police involved.....even if he goes to jail its a time for him to sober up.....its really all that you can do.
I am freaking out and panicing..need advise..How can I protect my property. I have a drug addicted nephew who?
and helps but she is much better at not helping or trusting him now..she is probably the weakest link..the guys mom totally wrote hiom off and so my mom and us are stuck as it is our house he goes to..they need to get a restraining order..f.

Confront him and put the ultimatum. Either he goes to rehab, or you have him charged by the police.
Report to the proper authorities in your area and put him in a rehabilitation center..Do it now dont hesistate for you'll never now what he will do next..
Don't take your chances. I know you might feel sorry for doing this, but you should definetly turn him in immediately. It's the only way to keep him away from the drugs, and stop his bad habits.
Do what you would with anybody else stealing from you. Turn him IN. He needs help.

How can someone get a written print out your conversations over the cell phone word for word?

There is a certain person who had stolen my bag with my personal info in it, however, I was able to get my bag back with everything in it. This person later was able to retrieve a word for word print out of all of my cell phone conversations. The cell provider was T-mobile. Believe it or not, everytime that I had changed my cell phone number, less than 5 minutes later that certain person would call me at the new number. I have changed my cell number serveral times, and as always that person would be the first to call me from an unknown number less than 5 min. of me changing it. T-mobile was clueless about it. This certain person knew my every move. One day, my cousin had told me that her husband had done a word for word print out on her too. She had told me that there's a place in Manhattan, Ny where you can go on the computer and get this info, all you need is the person's social security number. Someone with knownlege, please explain to me how this is done, and what can I stop this.
How can someone get a written print out your conversations over the cell phone word for word?
There is no way to print out a word for word statement of text messaging. Even if they could there would not be enough space to hold all the texts. over1 billion texts are sent and recieved each day, it would be a waste of space to keep them all on a server. It sounds to me like this person works for or knows someone who works for T-Mobile. Every time you changed your number they can just log in and get your new number.

How is it possible that a telephone solicitor can remotely turn on your cell phone so they can keep calling?

This is not a joke. I have been receiving numerous calls from an 866 number that has no real person on the other end. All the machine does is keep asking for my Social Security number. There is no way to get to a real person. I get several calls per day, including at night while I am asleep. I turn off my phone, and they send some sort of signal to my phone that turns it on. Then it beeps at me all night, keeping me awake.

I have complained to my cell phone company and they say they will get back to me.

There is nothing wrong with my cell phone. When I turn it off and call it from my home phone, the cell doesn't turn on. My call goes directly to voice mail.

I get service from Verizon (the only provider in my rural area) so I can't change providers. I can't change my phone number because it is also my business number. My phone is a Motorola, with no special features -- no text, no camera, just the basic cheapest model. The phone number they call from comes up as 866-740-4298. I finally called that # from my home phone and found out it is an off-shore company based in Manila. I gave the lady with the thick accent my cell # and told her in no uncertain terms to stop calling. The calls continued at an accelerated rate.

So how are they doing this to me? How do I stop it? And who do I report this to? I am sure this must be illegal.
How is it possible that a telephone solicitor can remotely turn on your cell phone so they can keep calling?
I found this which may answer your question. Go into your my verizon account online and go to

    My Verizon%26gt;My Services%26gt;My Cell Phone%26gt;Verizon Safeguards%26gt;Spam Controls

You can then block the number from there. That will take care of your Verizon cell phone. On your house phone, your local phone company should be able to block it. If they cannot, you can buy a call screening device that will do that.

Do you agree illegal alien should of been deported expired license plates fake Social Security card?

This guy continued to ignore the laws and break the laws when it caught up him we get how unfair life is , our laws are-Do illegals think certain laws should be ignored or deemed excused from them. Please explain what you think ? Claudia and Jose Garcia moved from Dallas to Irving looking for a peaceful place near a school to raise their three children.

They wanted their daughter to be able to walk to kindergarten rather than suffer through the long bus ride their sons endured in Dallas.

But Mr. Garcia's arrest on Sept. 18 by Irving police changed everything. He was transferred to immigration authorities for deportation to Mexico, prompting his wife to flee to Dallas.

    %26quot;I took my children out of school because I am also undocumented,%26quot; she said. %26quot;I lost everything.%26quot;

Mrs. Garcia, 32, is living proof of the warning issued last month by Irving ISD Superintendent Jack Singley: Deportations are causing immigrants to go %26quot;on the run%26quot; and pull their children out of school.

No one knows how many illegal immigrant families or U.S. citizens of Hispanic descent have left Irving because of the Police Department's role in the deportation program.

Mr. Singley sought to calm fearful parents in a letter.

    %26quot;This is a legal matter carried out by law enforcement officials in which the Irving ISD plays no part,%26quot; Mr. Singley wrote. %26quot;However, the impact of these activities has come to the schoolhouse.%26quot;

    He never came home

Mr. Garcia, 28, a construction worker, was driving home when he called his wife to say he would be there soon. He never arrived.

An officer pulled him over at Nursery and Shady Grove roads in Irving for driving with expired license plates and no driver's license. Police arrested him for outstanding warrants related to unpaid traffic tickets.

He also carried a fake Social Security card, police said.

Last year, Irving police began participating in the Criminal Alien Program, which meant that they turned Mr. Garcia over to federal immigration authorities for possible deportation. More than 1,700 illegal immigrants have fallen into the CAP in Irving.

National publicity about the large number of arrested immigrants Irving police have turned over for deportation has brought the city a lot of attention in recent months.

Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd said unpaid traffic tickets are the biggest reason people get arrested and put into the Criminal Alien Program. Please read more@http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/112807dnmetimmigrantmom.2bc907f.html
Do you agree illegal alien should of been deported expired license plates fake Social Security card?
Yes he should be deported. One of the funniest things to me is how these illegal aliens seem to be under the impression that breaking the law is ok. They also seem to be flabbergasted at the thought that people want the laws upheld. So, this guy turned out to be an illegal alien driving an unregistered vehicle with out a license and using false documents to propagate this lie. I wonder if he realizes that this mess he has found himself in is HIS own doing.
Do you agree illegal alien should of been deported expired license plates fake Social Security card?
You have to be blind not to see the arrogance that illegal aliens have.

Absolutely. He should have been deported immediately.
They should be deported as they come into contact with law enforcement regardless of why.
You betcha. Sob stories should not undermine the Rule Of Law.
Yes, deported immediately. All property he owns here should be seized by the Federal Government and sold at a auction. All proceeds go into the general fund. That would make the illegal aliens think about coming here and staying then.
is this all you have to live for? posting shitt about illegal immigrants breaking the law? In your world it is only the illegal immigrants that do wrong. how pathetic.
Yes, sexymamawga, illegals are criminals at the very moment they set foot on this soil. You seem to forget about that everytime. But the laws don't apply to you, right?
They should stay in jail or put tattoo or a solid bracelet on their wrist *illegal alien*
Our Government wants to give America away so there will be The North American Union .

    Yes deport them all
Well, I think that the best way to deport illegal aliens from our country is to start with securing our borders, raid work place of illegals and arrest the ones giving job to illegals, tax the money that is send to Mexico by the illegals, fine all cities that are breaking our laws by giving sanctuary status to illegals. If the government implement the laws that are already written, then all illegals will return to their country and we don't have to spend any money deporting them.
Wow, my husband and I have been talking about moving, I think I'll check this place out and see if it's somewhere we might be interested in.

Sad, yes, but we can't look at people as individual stories, because in the end, if they are illegal, well they are illegal. The saddest part is for the children. Their parents are selfish and the lowest of lows to put their children through fear like this.

We did not ask him or his family to come here illegally, that was their choice. There are consequences to ones actions, good intentions or not. When the Piper comes to collect, well, pay up buddy!
Enforcement of current immigration laws WILL work...in time, 20 million CAN be deported...no new immigration laws are necessary.......
Criminal presence in the country, stolen identity, driving with expired plates -- deport! Deport!

No matter how many anchor babies he's worked with his wife to drop on U.S. soil.

Let them all go with him and start a new life with the skills they got while milking the cow for free here in the U.S.A.
So sad but too bad. Sob stories are for the weak and stupid. Illegal is illegal and they already knew it. Just keep reporting the truth and forget the stupid pros and illegals, they have no rights here. And three cheers for Irving, Tx.
    it's about time.
you seem to forget that these people came here to bulid a better life for their children. if any one of you says that you would not go to extremes for your children, you are either heartless or a liar.

this is not a %26quot;sob story.%26quot; its a true story of many of the poor. mexicans aren't leeches. they are not here to ruin your lives. most of the jobs they take, you would not want. really, do any of you want to work in a slaughterhouse? i didn't think so.

they are illegal. but without them, our economy would not function. we would produce no produce or other crops. they should not be illegal, because we can't function without them.

so basically, you are raging on these people because they are poor and different. seems a little bit cruel.

(oh, and YOU are an immigrant unless you're native american. remember, god made us all to love each other, not hate eachother. we are all from the same place.)
I wonder when people are going to wake up to the illegal situation, they are ruining this country. I don't care if they come here for their poor down trodden children...do it illegally.

There are people here that have been displaced in their jobs by illegals working for less money. There is company right down the road from me, that last year was all english speaking americans...now they are all spanish. They have signs in the front of the building saying they are hiring, but the good ole locals dont get hired....I wonder what their familys are doing...Humm we are paying well fare for them and the illegals too! Double wammmy
    IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!

What should I do about an ex husband who keeps stalking me when the police won't help?

It's been over 2 years and my ex husband keeps stalking me. When we were married, he had memorized my social security number. I've tried changing my ssn a number of times but I kept getting rejected. The people at the social security office told me it had to be for a life/death reason. I've relocated about 3 times and yet he still finds me and will send random letters for me in the mail (the return address will be a random and/or fake...because I'll look it up and it will be from some shopping plaza) there's never a name on the return address either but inside will be a letter in his handwriting saying %26quot;I will be available soon%26quot;...WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? and it confuses me how he keeps finding me. Is it because he has my social security number and can track me down? I've tried calling the police and they won't help. They said its not that big of a threat. I'm afraid he will do something to me or my property and he will keep tracking me down as long as I have the same social security number.. He was very abusive when we were married. And apparently he hasn't moved on. Anyways, please help!
What should I do about an ex husband who keeps stalking me when the police won't help?
Did you put a restraining order on him? If not then do so. If he comes around you again you can call the cops and then he will get arrested.
What should I do about an ex husband who keeps stalking me when the police won't help?
My friend has had restraining orders for 3 or 5 days and then it starts all over again. The judge says he is not harassing her. She has no case. What in the world can she do. She is a wreck!

If the police won't help - go to the State Attorney's office and make a complaint. If that doesn't work - go to your local news agency...do whatever it is you have to do to get someone to believe you and act on the stalking. Don't take 'no' for an answer!
Seriously I agree with the first answer. Take it up with an attorney. If that doesn't work, then put the police on blast with your local news agency.

It boggles my mind that police wait until it becomes a %26quot;real%26quot; threat (as in you are hurt) for them to do anything about it. I get that they are understaffed and overworked but damn.

If you can move to another state, I would. And when you move to the other state, do not give your information to anyone until you know that he definitely does not know where you are. Don't leave a forwarding address with the post office either.
I think with the SSN - you should report it being compromised or stolen (your computer has been compromised or something) and that you want to get a new one, and the old one blocked, to prevent abuse / identity theft. If they refuse, send them a formal and registered letter stating that from their refusal on, they will be responsible if the SSN gets abused.

With the mail thing - keep them in a file.

Visit your police every week - if needed - and say you feel threatened.

Also, you might consider sueing your ex, for costs incurred by him forcing you to relocate. Contact legal advise for this.

What the text means - probably nothing, but something to drive you crazy. You could show this to the police and state that according to you this is a threat.

Worst case - get friendly with your local criminals, and ask them if they know how to solve this.. (just kidding, mind you - i do not condone unprovoked violence)
..well you should say smth nice and make him laugh..and let him challenged to marry somebody else....also you should also marry i guess..find smb talk....tell your ex.what you believe...that you been in love with him..but that you are not exactely what he needs..so maybe other woman will be luckier..and that you also wait for a more suitable man..etc..
Contact a lawyer, honestly. And continue to call the police and at least document the incidents even if they can't bring up charges, you can have documentation of his weird behavior.
